How to turn a photo into a bead pattern

Start with a clear image, choose a grid size, then check the colors before you download. Images are processed in your browser; no account is required.

1. Choose a simple image

Crop around your subject before uploading. Clear silhouettes, illustrations and pixel art are easier to read than a busy photo. Transparent PNG backgrounds become empty cells.

2. Match the grid to your board

The width control sets 10–80 cells, with one bead per filled cell. Height follows the image proportions. Start at 29 cells for a small design and compare it with your own pegboard. Changing the width regenerates the pattern and resets manual edits.

3. Clean up the colors

Open Settings, choose the pen and a reference color, then tap cells to recolor them. Use the eraser for the background. Reuse a few colors to simplify a busy pattern; the usage list updates as you edit.

4. Download and print

PDF includes the grid, reference color IDs and a bead-count list. PNG and JPG use your current grid, ID and shape settings. In the print dialog, check the preview and choose Fit to page; the pattern is a counting guide, not a life-size pegboard template.

Which bead colors are supported?

The tool uses 27 built-in reference colors for Perler-style projects. P01–P92 are this tool’s reference labels, not verified manufacturer product codes. It does not currently switch between MARD, Hama or other brand palettes. Compare the screen colors with your physical beads before buying materials.

Frequently asked questions

Can I print the pattern?

Yes, select "Download PDF" for a printable vector file with bead counts.

How to download as image?

Choose PNG or JPG from the export menu for high-res images.

Circle vs Square view?

Circle simulates real beads; Square is better for counting grids.

Color accuracy?

The tool uses 27 reference colors. P labels identify colors in this tool, not verified manufacturer codes. Compare them with your physical beads.

Can I make and download a pattern for free?

Yes. Upload an image, edit the pattern and download PDF, PNG or JPG without signing up.

Why does a photo lose detail?

Each grid cell becomes one bead. Small grids cannot retain every photo detail. Crop the subject, try a larger grid and correct important features with the pen.

How do I reduce the number of bead colors?

Use the pen to replace similar colors with one color from the palette. Check the usage list as you edit. Automatic color-count limiting is not currently available.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

The converter reads and processes your selected image in this browser. It does not send the image to our server. Download your work before leaving or reloading the page.
